How often do you get mad? I mean, really, loose control mad? The Bible does give us a guideline.
Ephesians 4:26 (KJV) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
While we tend to use the word “mad” as a synonym for angry, there is a difference. There are times where we should be angry. There are many times when our anger should be kindled. But should we be mad?
The answer is no.
Websters Dictionary certainly includes furious as a definition of mad, but it also says, “Proceeding from disordered intellect.” Too often, when we get angry, we allow the anger to take control of us. When the anger takes control, we are mad. When we are mad, not in control, acting with disordered intellect, we sin. The Holy Spirit of God wants us to do all things decently and in order – even when we are angry.
