Devotions
Your daily walk with God is incredibly important.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Paul instructed Timothy to study! Studying the Word of God is one way the Lord communicates with us. The Holy Spirit of God will move upon us as we read His Word. If we do not read the Word of God, we miss out on that opportunity for God to speak to us.

Our devotions are simple, Bible-based messages from the Word of God. We examine a different passage in each study. In time, we hope to systematically move through the entire Word of God.

Esther 1:1-6 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:) (2) That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace, (3) In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him: (4) When he shewed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and fourscore days. (5) And when these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace; (6) Where were white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble: the beds were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble.

Worldly people want to put on a good party. They want the party to be the best one anyone has ever been to. And, why not? After all, we all enjoy a good party, right? We all like being friends with the people who throw the best parties, right? Of course.  Yet, there is far more to life than just the party. There are often consequences to the party. Do you keep the Lord first in all aspects of your life? Or, are there times when the party becomes far more important? If we take a step further back, are there other things which take priority over God in your life? Family is important, but it is not more important than God. Work is important. But when work is placed ahead of God, work becomes an idol.

What are some of the idols in your life? We all have something we struggle with – something that wants to take God’s place in our lives.  What is it for you? More importantly, are you willing to give it up?
