1 Timothy 6:20-21 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen. The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.
Oh, Paul, how applicable is this passage to us in our present day. Science is defined as the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. Sadly, today, science has been prostituted for a political end. Modern science has become a process of proving one’s pet hypothesis at any cost. In many cases, fraudulent science is being used in a vain attempt to disprove the Word of God and even explain away the very existence of God. As believers, we know this process to be a vain one. False scientists are twisting facts, ignoring data and falsifying evidence to build a house of cards which, on its face, is so silly a five year old with a little logic can see through it. Yet, so many around us are falling for these lies. I believe if Paul were alive, today, he would certainly preach against these things, but would possibly openly mock them. Yet we believers sit idly by, tolerating these false scientists. Some, claiming to be believers, send their children off to centers of education where the children are indoctrinated with these lies and turned away from God. How sad is the state of our church.
